Great for building seasonal vocabulary and language for your students with language impairments. Teaching through storybooks or informational texts builds language skills in contextual activities. The 9 different language activities in this resource reinforce the vocabulary and concepts with repetition in a fun way.

This group of activities about the seasons was originally designed to go with the book “The Year at Maple Hill Farm” by Alice and Martin Provensen, who have written some great Caldecott award-winning books.

If you don’t have the book, the activities can stand alone as a seasonal resource, or can be used with any book that marks the seasons that you have and like.

The seasons are nowhere more noticeable than on a farm. Crops and animals have very specific cycles. The book, “The Year at Maple Hill Farm,” goes through the year, one month at a time, and talks about the weather, the animals, and some of the plants.

☂ The clinician written book found here can be used with students for whom the language of the book is too difficult. Or, it can stand alone if you don’t use the Provensens’ book. The activities that follow provide opportunities to sort items by season, create written samples, and practice vocabulary.
