Do your students need to practice following the steps of the scientific method? This is a set of 6 very basic 4th-6th grade science experiments that follow the steps of the Scientific Method. In each experiment students will be given a Question, Gather Information, Make a Hypothesis, Conduct the Investigation, Record Results, and Make a Conclusion. They all require only common household materials, and are easy enough to be done as individual homework assignments, (my students love to have a lab for homework!) or could be done very quickly as in-class labs.
Each lab is included in full page and ½ page format. I will sometimes have students copy the lab from the board onto an index card, and return it completed with a parent signature and a photograph.
An answer key is given, but as with any other labs, the hypothesis,
results, and conclusions will all vary.
