Students can use this fun sight word tracker in their data notebook, work in progress folder, or take-home binder to track their sight word progress.

How does the tracker work?

Each page has 40-52 words (based off the popular list of 220 common sight words). As your students master each word, they can color that space. This helps them quickly see how many words they have mastered – and how many they have left to work on.

What is the benefit of using this?

Some students will find this tool very motivating. It is easier to reach goals when you can visualize them. These tracking sheets help students see which words they need to practice. As they master more words, their page will become more colorful and help them see how much they have grown!

Do I need to use all these pages?

No, in fact you probably don’t need more than one or two. The lists included are pre-primer, primer, first grade, second grade, and third grade. Just choose the word list(s) that apply to your students. You may find that some of your class will work on one list, while another group of students may have graduated to the next list.

How can I help my students master their sight words?

The key to learning sight words is repetition. I offer several activities to help your students practice and master their words, such as word chants, centers, and worksheets. Check them all out here!

These are perfect for my data binder! Do you have any other data related resources?

You may find my Rapid Results Assessments for kindergarten useful. You can keep the half-page assessments in your data binder or use the included tracking pages to monitor individual students.
