This workbook is perfect if you need practice pages that will be completed independently, and cover a LOT of different reading and writing skills. It covers skills for alphabet, reading, writing, word building and sentence building on one page – this mean low prep for the teacher!

Tasks on every page include:

Activity #1
Print upper and lower-case letters and circle the BEST ones. (Self-editing, attention to letter formation)

Activity #2
Cut off the bottom words and glue in place to build a
sentence.

Activity #3
Use the checklist to self-edit, and ask a peer to edit for accuracy (self-editing, peer editing).

Activity #4
Draw a picture by following the directions provided. Check each one off as it is completed.

Activity #5
Cut off the letters at the bottom and arrange them in different ways to build words.
Write each word made. Use the back of the paper if more room is needed.
*Note: These letters are not glued anywhere, they are just used to move around to make words.
Advanced Reader Challenge Option: A BLANK letter tile allows students to choose any letter they need, which expands the possibilities of words built. You may wish to make a class list of all the words created at the end of the lesson!

*Differentiation: Younger students can complete only the first jobs within the time given, and progress as they become more confident with repetition. Older students can be challenged to complete the work mentally (without cutting and gluing words and letters), or working in pairs to combine their letters for many more word possibilities.
