Welcome to Directed Drawing MEETS Poetry! These activities are perfect for whole class lessons, literacy centers, sub plans and home practice!

As a primary teacher, I try to integrate my themes and cross-curricular projects as much as possible. This directed drawing task is fun and engaging, but also supports learning Springtime concepts (such as frog and butterfly life cycles, baby animals on a farm, and signs of spring).

In addition, along with the 6 directed drawing poems, there are several other activities to practice a wide range of literacy skills, including:

-following directions
-identifying digraphs
-identifying verbs and adjectives
-identifying color and number words
-using ordinal numbers
-sentence structures
-self-editing and peer-editing
-compound words
-making, reading and illustrating mini-books
-replacing missing words in text
-sequencing
-matching rhyming words
