Through this fun, interactive activity, students will find out about the simple things they can do to make a difference when it comes to plastic pollution and energy consumption, among other topics.

- Traditional– Read each card and record the answers (either in complete sentences or short response)
- Vocabulary– Students find the vocabulary word on each card. They determine the meaning of the word and decide on the vocabulary skill they relied on to figure it out.
- Synthesizing– This higher-order thinking option asks students to use the information they learned as a whole to answer 6 thought-provoking questions.

DIRECTIONS:
- Cut out the fact cards and place them all around your classroom. Part of the fun is finding the fact cards, so try to hide them in unusual places! Under tables, on the ceiling, even in the bathroom…get creative!
- Students search the room, read the fact cards, and answer the corresponding questions on their recording sheets.
- As students finish, have them return to their seats and answer the additional questions at the bottom of each recording sheet. This keeps early finishers engaged while the rest of the class keeps working.

IDEAS FOR USE:
While this is designed as a whole-class activity, there are many other ways to complete a scavenger hunt! During center rotations, have one group work on the scavenger hunt per rotation. Or, have students complete the scavenger hunt independently as part of their weekly tasks. There are many opportunities to use this product if doing it whole-class wouldn’t work for you!
