These printable letter tiles are a fantastic word building tool that can be used all year long! They are a great substitute for magnetic letters in your classroom centers. The tiles are also a perfect tool to send home with your students so they can practice word building any time!

Why are some of the letters red and some of the letters blue?

The colors are to help students distinguish between consonants (blue) and vowels (red).

How many of each letter are included?

There are 175 letter tiles in all. Seven tiles are included for each letter of the alphabet except for x and z, which have four tiles each.

Are lowercase and uppercase letters included?

Yes, you can choose to print either or both sets of letters.

How can I utilize these letter tiles?
This resource is quite versatile and can be used for many literacy activities in your classroom! The tiles can be used on their own to build words (sight words, phonics-based words, science vocabulary, names, etc.).

You could also use these in place of magnetic letters for centers. For example, these letter tiles could easily be used with my Magnetic Missions line of phonics centers or my Build It, Write It, Learn It! Mats.

I don’t want to print these in color. Are they also included in black and white?

No, but you can choose to print the titles in grayscale. If you do this, I suggest printing the vowels on red paper and the consonants on blue paper (or two other colors of your choice).

Can I create double-sided tiles with these?

Yes! If your printer has a duplex setting, you may be able to automatically print it on both sides. If your printer does not have that capability, just print two copies of the tiles and glue or tape the matching tiles on the backs.
