With this packet, students are given easy to follow writing prompts and guidance to help them learn how to form sentences to make a simple non-fiction story.

This packet includes one writing page with a place to draw a picture and a place to write their story.

There is one guiding page activity that includes a have/are chart where students will color and cut out the key words and glue them in the appropriate column under are or have. Students will then use their page to form simple sentences about the chosen topic. After writing their sentences, students will draw a picture of what they wrote about.

There is a thinking map to use where the students can come up with their own adjectives to describe the chosen topic. Students will write or draw the different characteristics and then form their sentences using this chart.

The final thinking map in this packet is to be used when students know the verbs to use and no longer need the visual cues to form the sentences. They write their ideas or draw their ideas in the circles provided then they can form their sentences from this chart.

Love this for a grpahic organizer. After we do this I make them use the graphic organizer to write sentences.
