This set is a fun twist on Interactive Notebooks!

Students create a cute butterfly booklet whose wings practice simple sentences using short vowel words. Great for practice at school when glued into notebooks, and makes a colorful bulletin board display too! This set can also be used as a year-long home reading practice program for word families.

This set practices 6 sentences for each of the short vowel sounds.
There are also a set of word cards for sorting 15 different sentences, and a set of 60 short vowel word cards for sorting by sound!

How it works:

1. Students cut out a cute butterfly cover – each butterfly body has a list of the focus words written for review.

2. Students cut out the first butterfly and apply glue to the body. Attach it to underneath the cover to begin making the book!

3. Keep adding pages to the bottom of the butterfly to create a bigger booklet! You can choose how many pages to add at one time – there are three work pages for each sound.

4. Time to work! Students lift the butterfly wing on each side to practice a sentence two different ways. First, they read and illustrate, coloring a little butterfly for each time they’ve read the sentence. Next, they fill in the missing word boxes, and color in each of the words as they are used.
