Early finishers or fast finishers often refers to students that complete their work ahead of their peers. If you’re tired of hearing “I’m done! Now what?”, the Fun When You’re Done Early Finishers System is just what you need!

What grade are these activities for?

While these could be used for several students depending on their ability, this resource is best aligned with first grade.

Can you tell me more about the activities included?

There are ten activities included. Each of those activities comes with five options.

1. Calendar Questions – Students will fill in the dates on the calendar for the month and answer questions. Each of the five pages asks students different questions. There is a special holiday noted on each of the five pages for the students to locate on the calendar.
2. Smart Chart – Students will fill in the missing numbers on a 120 chart. The five options included have a variety of spaces for students to fill in, from 24 missing numbers to 120 missing numbers.
3. Mystery Words – Students will cut out letter tiles on the bottom of the page and create as many words as they can. Students will record their words and attempt to solve for the word that uses all the letters.
4. Draw and Write – Students are given five steps to help them draw a picture. After they draw the picture, students will use a word bank to help them write about their picture.
5. Able to Label – Students will utilize a word bank to label five parts of an image. Then they will use at least one of those words to write a sentence that matches the picture.
6. Hidden in Pictures – Students will hunt for six hidden words inside of a picture. The words are written in small text, so you might consider putting magnifying glasses with these pages. Students will record the words and use at least one to write a sentence. These are high frequency words taken from the pre-primer, primer, and first grade word lists.
7. Acrostic Poems – There are five acrostic poem templates included for the month, but given in two options. Your students can write and draw a picture for their poem, or they can write and color a picture for their poem.
8. ABC Order – Students will cut out the six word cards and utilize the alphabet line to put the words in alphabetical order. Students will then use the words to write a sentence.
9. Stirred Words – This activity requires students to unscramble the letters to spell six different words. There is a word bank to help them solve for the scrambled words.
10. Amazing Facts – These pages have a fun-shaped maze that is the focus theme for the page. Students will solve to find their way out of the shape maze, trace a fact, and write one question they have about the theme of the page.

What are the main themes for the November early finishers pack?

You’ll see a lot of scarecrows, leaves, turkeys, and Thanksgiving this month!

Are there answer keys included?

Yes and no! There are some pages that have answer keys, some that have partial answer keys, and some that do not have keys at all. If there is a correct answer, it is provided on the answer key (with the exception of the mazes).

At the beginning of your download, you will find a printing guide that tells you if an answer key is provided for each activity.

Would you suggest putting out all these pages at once?

No, I would only choose one page for each activity to give to your students every week. Then I would swap out their choices on Friday afternoons so they would have new choices each week. Of course, if your students don’t spend a lot of time with these activities you may choose to leave the same materials out for a few weeks or the entire month.

How would you suggest organizing these for students?

I would highly suggest investing in a 10 drawer rainbow cart. These can be found at Michaels, Sam’s Club, Walmart, and a variety of other stores. I would then dedicate one drawer to each activity.

Are these academically based?

There is an academic element to each page, but this series is called Fun When You’re Done, so there are fun elements like coloring, drawing, mazes, etc. for students to do as well.

Is this available in a bundle?

Yes, there is a bundle for the year (August-May).
