Your students will love practicing prepositions with these fun monkeys! There are task cards, worksheets, and a reader with an optional writing extension for you to use to introduce positional words in literacy groups or have students use for practice or review independently in centers.

What’s included:

The preposition definition poster that can be displayed as a reminder for students.

There are twelve task cards in color and repeated in line art. Each makes the same statement: “The monkey is ___ the box”. Students look at the picture and choose the appropriate answer from to answer choices. There is a page provided to record their answers.

Following the task cards you’ll find a ten page prepositions reader with optional writing page. The reader is in a cut, stack, and staple format. Depending on the ability of your students, you have three options using this book:

1) Assemble the first ten pages and read with students.

2) After reading; have students draw inside the box the monkey is holding on page

ten what they think was inside the box.

3) After reading, have students use the optional writing page to make a prediction

about what was in the box. *If using the writing page, you may choose whether

or not to include page ten.

In a separate file you will find five worksheets. Each has a scene at the bottom of the page and five completion statements at the top with two positional word answer choices. Students read the sentence and then look at the picture to decide the correct preposition to complete each sentence. These can be used for additional practice or as quick assessments.

If you’re looking for more practice for your students, also have differentiated Preposition Task Cards with picture support and assessments in my store.
