• Supporting Emergent Readers: Sentences are very simple and become progressively more complex, with more words, as you progress through the collection.

• Personalized Sentences: Sentences near the end of the resource prompt students to fill in their own details for personalized sentences.

• Repetition for Mastery: The tasks are repetitive to reinforce confidence and independence, making them perfect for literacy centers, whole group lessons, and daily morning work.

• Skills Practiced: Through daily practice, students will gain proficiency in:

-capitalization

-self editing for random capitals

-punctuation: periods and question marks

-letter formation

-leaving space between words

• Peer-Editing: After completing the sentence building, printing, picture and checklist, students require a partner to peer-edit their sentence and sign their name for verification! This holds students accountable to finish, and increases confidence when they get to be the teacher “expert” fixing up someone else’s work.

• Canadian/Australian/UK spelling versions have already been added at the end of the resource for the word “favorite/favourite” This set uses the terms “puctuation” and “capitalization” as opposed to “period” so it can be used for countries that prefer “full stop” to “period”.
