Do your students take advantage of all the information offered by text features? This Text Features Learning Stations activity will not only have students identify text features, but also analyze how the features provide important details that will help their comprehension!

**This resource is aligned to the 5th Grade Florida BEST Standards. A Common Core version is coming soon!

PLEASE VIEW THE PREVIEW AND THUMBNAILS FOR A DETAILED LOOK AT THIS RESOURCE!

This activity comes with print and digital versions and can be used with any nonfiction text or as a supplement to your ELA curriculum. It can be easily differentiated– you can decide which questions you want your students to answer, and they can either talk about or write down their responses. Although the Learning Stations were designed to be used as a group activity, you can easily transition the content into partner or independent work!

RESOURCE INCLUDES:

Digital Version-

  • Google Slides or PowerPoint Slideshow- The 6 stations included are “Features”, “Inferences”, “Main Idea”, “Compare and Contrast”, “Think Like an Author”, and “Connect to the Text.”
  • Detailed teacher instructions and video tutorials to help you assign this resource in Google Classroom

Print Version-

  • PDF version of the 6 stations listed above
  • 6 station signs- great for a gallery walk!
  • Student response sheets for each station- variety of options to choose from, including editable response sheets
  • Teacher instructions and ideas for use

As students move through the stations, they will find a range of DOK levels represented in the questions. You can easily adapt this activity to meet the needs of your students throughout the year- for example, you may start with students answering only one question verbally within their group and then progress to students providing written responses for all of the stations.

This resource is incredibly versatile- you can use either the digital or print options as they are, or combine elements of both to help your students be successful as they navigate through the stations.
