Looking for a great way to explore and learn more about the characteristics of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional figures? Your students will master the following 2D and 3D shapes with these worksheets: circles, rectangles, squares, triangles, cones, cubes, cylinders, and spheres.

Which shapes are covered in this resource?

Following the Texas state standards, the following shapes are included: circles, rectangles, squares, triangles, cones, cubes, cylinders, and spheres.

What if there are additional shapes I need to cover with my students?

I would be more than happy to create additional resources for other shapes such as octagons, pyramids, or whatever you need! Please reach out through the Q&A section of my store for a possible timeline for additional shape resources based on needs. Not all requests can be met immediately.

What types of pages are included?

This resource currently has 40 pages!

Some of the pages included are:

  • All About [Shape] – students will name a shape, its attributes, and identify real-world objects in that shape (2D and 3D)
  • Shape Sorts – cut and glue sorts of shapes and of real-world objects (2D, 3D, and 2D/3D)
  • Color by Shape – use a color code to identify shapes (2D, 3D, and 2D/3D)
  • Shape Name Crossword Puzzles (2D and 3D)
  • Color by Shape (2D and 3D)

What if my standards are not specifically addressed?

As you know, academic standards are set by individual states, not the federal government. That means what a kindergartner in Texas is expected to learn is different than a kindergarten student in Virginia. As a Texas certified teacher, this resource was created with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards in mind.

That means that some of the materials in this resource may be too easy or too hard for your students. Often, they will be just right!

For example, at the time of creating this resource Texas expects kindergartners to be able to identify some 3D shapes and their attributes. On the other hand, Virginia does not. They both do require that students can identify circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles.

While I cannot guarantee that every request will be met, I am more than happy to take your suggestions for additions to this resource. You can request additional materials through the Q&A section in my store.

Please keep in mind that this specific resource is for print and go materials, AKA worksheets. I will not be adding centers, posters, books, etc. to this pack.

Will more pages be added to this resource?

Possibly! If there are requests that will enhance this product, additional resources may be added.

This isn’t quite right for my grade level. Do you have anything a little more difficult?

I don’t, but my friend over at Resource Ranch has Mastering Math for First Grade available!

I love that these are standards based! Do you have any digital resources for shapes?

Yes! You will love the Mastering Math resources that can be found in my store.
