This AP Family decodable reader packet contains 3 emergent readers that focus on the words in the AP word family. These books are a low prep activity and easy to make.
The three books are titled:
- In My Lap
- Nap Time
- The Cap (practices color words)
Each word family book includes a cover page and 5 or more pages for students to read. The stories and sentences in each book contains simple sight words and the target word family, making them easy for beginning readers to have success with making and reading each book.
When to Use:
- Literacy Center
- Small Group Activity
- Independent Practice
- Homework
- Reading Center
These books can also be made by the teacher, laminated and placed in a classroom library or reading center for students to read over and over. If students create their own book, it will be a perfect practice reader for students to take home and share and practice their reading skills with parents.
Skills Assessed:
- Following directions
- Reading AP words in context
- Reading simple sight words
Each book is easy to put together. Students simply need to color or complete the activity on each page, cut the pages in half and then staple the pages together, making sure the cover page is on top, and for the stories with sequential pages, those will need to be in the correct order.
