Learning colors is an essential skill to cover in kindergarten. Colors is a great, simple topic to start the school year with to help students feel successful and knowledgeable. The materials in this resource cover the following colors: black, blue, brown, gray, green, orange, pink, purple, red, white, and yellow.
Take a look at the preview to see some photos of your colors unit resource!
Your download is separated into four sections.
Teaching About Colors:
Color Posters – half page posters that feature the color word and an animal matching the color
Color Pocket Chart Cards – a heading and picture cards for students to sort (these can also be used as full page posters)
Mini-Books – each color has a mini-book for students to complete; these are printed on one page per color and features six images that correlate with each color – students can color the pictures and fill in the missing color word on each page
Learning Colors Worksheets: for each color, there is a separate page for each of the following worksheets
Circle of Ideas – students draw pictures (or cut out pictures from magazines) to put in the circle for the focus word and practice tracing the color word
Paint Palette Picture Sort – students will cut, sort, and paste 6 of 8 pictures for each color
Color It – students will identify and color (or circle) pictures that match the focus color
Finish the sentence – these pages are similar to my Simple Sentences Sight Word Practice pages; students will fill in the missing color word from each sentence, color the picture, and rewrite the sentence
Centers for Teaching Colors:
Envelope and Stamps – students will sort and match envelopes with color words to stamps with pictures on them
Memory – students will match paint cans, brushes, and color words (four ways to play)
