Whimsy Workshop TeachingPrinting Simple Sentences with Color Words
This resource requires students to write three proper sentences on each page.
Each sentence directs students to use a particular color, showing comprehension.
There are three versions included, each one focusing on different phonics and writing skills.Focus on neat printing, spacing, capitalization, and punctuation. When students are done, they will ask a friend to check their work and sign their name at the bottom, adding accountability. A cute cover is included if you choose to make booklets.
There are three versions as described below:
Version 1: Simple Sentences with Color Words
The first 20 pages of this resource contains simple sentences (3 per page), plus a cover page. The student shows comprehension by choosing the correct color for each picture. Pictures are repeated several times, but matched with different colors to show students are comprehension of color words. When the task is complete, students read all three sentences to a friend. The friend signs his/her name at the bottom of the page.
Version 2: Crack The Code!
Using the same format and repeated vocabulary, students must now crack the code to see which color to use! Students use their letter sound knowledge to “crack the code” to find the color needed for the picture. For example, e=elephant, so if students see an elephant icon, they print the letter e.
Version 3: Sentence Scramble
Put the words in the correct order to build a simple sentence. Print the sentence and color according to directions.
These can be used for morning work, small group phonics lessons, literacy centers, or even home practice.
