Keep your students engaged and excited with these fun chants to practice sight words! They are great for whole group, small group, independent practice, early finishers, centers, brain breaks, and distance learning.
What words can I use these chants with?
This resource can be used with any words! My kindergarten students used these chants to practice any words that were on our word wall. This included sight words, content specific vocabulary, names, blends, digraphs, and more!
Sight word checklists are included for the 220 most common words. They are separated by grade level (pre-primer, primer, first grade, second grade, and third grade).
If you choose to use these activities with words other than sight words, there is an alternative version of the pages included titled “Vocabulary in Action”. There are also editable word lists included for lists of 10, 20, 25, 30, or 50 words.
Can my students use this independently?
Definitely! After you teach your students how to use each chant, they can work on their own, in partners, or small groups. I suggest introducing one to two chants at a time. The visual on the card is a great cue for students who can’t read the directions yet.
How will my students know what to do?
The visual cue on each card will give your students a good idea of what to do, but there is also a short description included on each square.
Should I send these home with my students?
This sight words resource is perfect to send home! Each page includes 9 ways to practice their words in action. This helps provide fun and creative ways to repeatedly practice over long breaks from school. The printing is also minimal. Students can choose from 36 ways to practice their words with just four pages!
Do you have more sight word resources in your store?
